How does Section 8 Rental Assistance work?
Everyone deserves to find a secure place to live at a price that fits their income
At North Central Indiana Housing, we administer the Section 8 HCV programs for the cities of Warsaw and Goshen. By following this simple 6-step process, you can start your journey towards affordable housing today!
- Apply for assistance
- Get called off the waitlist
- Attend an informational briefing
- Verify your income
- Find a unit
- Start receving rental assistance
You can get an application under our application tab or you can pick one up at our office at 109 W. Catherine Street in Milford, Indiana.
Make sure you select the proper application for the city you want to live in!
The length of the waitlist varies throughout the year.
Applications are taken off the waitlist by day and time received, so we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
At the briefing, our staff will go over all of the rules of the program and answer any questions you may have. After this briefing, you will know how to seek out affordable housing where you can use your Housing Choice Voucher.
One of our caseworkers will give you a list of documents to put together. They will schedule a day to meet with you and help you figure out how much of your new unit’s rent you will pay each month.
These verifications include:
-income
-birth certificates
-Social Security Cards
